Non-EU Students
All students from outside the European Union must request a Greek Student Visa from the Greek Embassy or Greek Consulate in your home country or country of residence before entering Greece.
Tourist and/or Schengen Visas are not accepted for study purposes, and Webster Athens will not allow students to register for courses under a Tourist and/or a Schengen Visa. Webster Athens officers will guide you through the visa application process; however, it is your responsibility to obtain your student visa prior to your arrival in Greece. Keep in mind that you should start the visa process 10-12 weeks prior to the start of your semester at Webster Athens.
Below, you will find information to help you understand and prepare for the application processes for a Greek Student Visa and Residence Permit.
In the beginning, you’ll receive an official acceptance letter certified by the Greek Ministry of Education, which is released after your deposit is settled. There are various ways to make a deposit, depending on your enrollment classification. Specific instructions on making a deposit will be included in your acceptance email. Once you have made the necessary arrangements, our Office of Admissions will mail the letter to you by courier.
Be sure to visit the website of the Greek Embassy in your country, or the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for a detailed list of the documents required for a student visa.
We urge you to call your nearest Greek Consulate or Embassy to confirm the documentation requirements and interview process, if applicable. Find location and full contact information for where a Greek Consulate or Embassy is located in your region.
A student visa is a requirement for study in Greece and for enrollment at Webster Athens. If you stay in Greece for longer than the duration of your visa, Webster Athens will assist you in obtaining your residence permit.
Note that during the visa process, Webster Athens may not interfere with the authorities to speed up the process or inquire about missing documents. It is your responsibility to keep on top of your visa application process.
